Frequently asked questions
Everything moms usually ask us before downloading the app. If something's still unclear, email us at hey@tribumama.app.
What is TribuMama?
TribuMama is a free iPhone and Android app that brings moms from the same neighborhood together in small groups of up to 10, called tribes. Every tribe has its own group chat inside the app, and the idea is that you meet in person.
Is it free?
Yes, it's free. We don't want any mom left out for financial reasons.
Is it safe to meet moms through the app?
To join or start a tribe, every mom passes a face check. Groups are small and private, your exact location is never shown and the chat works without sharing your number. You can report or block any profile, and you decide whether and when to meet in person. For a first meetup we recommend a public place like a park or a café.
How does the face check work?
Before you join or start a tribe, the app asks for a quick check with your front camera to confirm you're a real person. It runs on your phone, and the image is never stored or uploaded to any server. Verified moms get a badge on their profile. You can create your profile and explore the map before verifying.
How many moms are in a tribe?
Up to 10. That's small enough to really get to know each other and to plan meetups without it turning into a project.
Who can see where I live?
Nobody sees your exact location. On the map, tribes show up by neighborhood or area, never at a specific address, and your profile doesn't say where you live.
Do I have to share my phone number?
No. Every tribe has its own chat inside the app, so you can talk and plan meetups without swapping numbers.
Which cities is it available in?
The app works in any city and any country. Right now Madrid has the most tribes, and there are also tribes in other Spanish cities, the UK and the US.
What if there are no tribes near me yet?
You can start the first one in your neighborhood. Moms nearby who are looking for a tribe will see it on the map, and if you turn on notifications we'll let you know when a new tribe is created near you.
Can I join while I'm pregnant?
Of course. Plenty of moms tell us they wish they'd found their tribe before giving birth, so reaching postpartum with your people already in place is a great idea.
How is it different from other mom apps?
Most apps for meeting moms work by swiping through profiles one by one or as big forums. TribuMama puts you in a small group from your own neighborhood from the start, with its own chat, so you get to meeting in person quickly.
Which languages is the app in?
English and Spanish. The app follows your phone's language.
Who can use TribuMama?
Moms, pregnant women and caregivers aged 18 or over who want to meet others close to home.
